Grades 3-6

Faith

Each morning students participate in daily devotions with their class. This time is spent encouraging them to deepen their relationship with God and challenging them to act on their faith.
Subjects are taught from a Biblical perspective. This encourages students to see how different areas of learning find their root in Biblical truth.
Students practice critical thinking skills as they evaluate information to find God’s truth.

Academics

Teachers follow the knowledge and skill objectives set out by the Alberta Program of Studiies.
Teachers support and encourage each individual student to reach their academic potential.
In Grade 4, students begin LWCA’s Spanish program.
In Grade 6, students begin learning the discipline of playing an instrument in the band.
Class sizes are smaller, which allows for more individual instruction.

Respect

Students are expected to demonstrate respect for other students. They do this by following God’s command to “love your neighbour as yourself”. (Mark 12: 31)
Students are expected to demonstrate respect for authority figures by obeying the instructions they are given, recognizing that this is what God expects.

Responsibility

Students learn to make wise decisions on their own and recognize that these decisions have consequences that will impact their character, academics, relationships, and faith.
Students learn organizational skills and time management through the use of a daily agenda.

Leadership

Students in grades 4-6 are given the opportunity to become involved in LWCA’s student council as classroom representatives.
