Grades 3 - 6

Grades 3-6

Faith
  • Each morning students participate in daily devotions with their class. This time is spent encouraging them to deepen their relationship with God and challenging them to act on their faith.
  • Subjects are taught from a Biblical perspective. This encourages students to see how different areas of learning find their root in Biblical truth.
  • Students practice critical thinking skills as they evaluate information to find God’s truth.
Academics
  • Teachers follow the knowledge and skill objectives set out by the Alberta Program of Studiies.
  • Teachers support and encourage each individual student to reach their academic potential.
  • In Grade 4, students begin LWCA’s Spanish program.
  • In Grade 6, students begin learning the discipline of playing an instrument in the band.
  • Class sizes are smaller, which allows for more individual instruction.
Respect
  • Students are expected to demonstrate respect for other students.  They do this by following God’s command to “love your neighbour as yourself”.  (Mark 12: 31)
  • Students are expected to demonstrate respect for authority figures by obeying the instructions they are given, recognizing that this is what God expects.
Responsibility
  • Students learn to make wise decisions on their own and recognize that these decisions have consequences that will impact their character, academics, relationships, and faith.
  • Students learn organizational skills and time management through the use of a daily agenda.
Leadership
  • Students in grades 4-6 are given the opportunity to become involved in LWCA’s student council as classroom representatives.
